Throughout David’s life he dreamed big ideas, then he took steps to achieve his goals. Born on March 9, 1943 to Edgar J. Spielman and Twila L. May Spielman, he was a visionary and entrepreneur focused on all things ag-related. After serving in the National Guard and leaving a position at GE, David opened Dave’s Feed and Seed store in 1978 in Arkansas City. The store evolved into Spielman and Son Seed Cleaning in 1984, a business that continues today and created relationships for David across a five-state area. David started his buffalo herd in 1995 that continues to roam at La Hacienda — a dream that he made a reality.
While David was a successful businessman, he would tell you his legacy is in his family. He loved his family fiercely and everyone knew it. He married Diana Lynn Wolf on Feb. 14, 1965, a marriage that will continue to inspire his children, Justin and Davi, and his grandchildren, Adrianne, Abigail, Austin and Hugo.
David lived his life holding true to his principles and values. He always treated others with kindness. He never knew a stranger and saw the good in everyone. He laughed easily and was commonly the instigator of fun. David was quick to forgive and was filled with encouragement for others. He was never rushed or in a hurry and understood the value in taking time for others. He invested in people and relationships above anything material.
David was preceded in death by his father, Edgar J. Spielman; mother, Twila L. May Spielman; and brother, Tommy L. Spielman.
David is survived by his wife, Diana Lynn Wolf Spielman; children, Justin Jay Spielman, Davi Dawn Spielman Miesner (Kurt), and Jana Linke; grandchildren, Adrianne Nicole Spielman, Wyatt Fouts, Abigail Leigh Spielman, Austin Jay Spielman and Hugo Henry Miesner; sister, Tricia Pryor (Larry); and nieces and nephews.
