Carolyn June Schoonover Epp, 70, of Arkansas City, passed away peacefully Jan. 9, 2020, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita.
Cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at First Southern Baptist Church in Arkansas City. Pastor Scott Melton will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Kidney Foundation or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.
Carolyn was born Dec. 17, 1949, to Jay and Helen Schoonover of Arkansas City. She was raised in Arkansas City and attended Arkansas City schools as well as various vo-tech and career schools. She worked in various nursing homes and facilities and doctors’ offices as a Certified Nursing Assistant and medication aide.
Carolyn was an avid bowler in her younger years and enjoyed card games with her friends. She was also an avid collector of anything frogs, as long as they were not real. She enjoyed crocheting, doing puzzle books and spoiling her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
Carolyn married LeRoy Stewart, Sr., in 1973, and they had two children, Keli Rene´ and Tara Linn. They later divorced.
Carolyn is survived by her companion of 35 years, Edwin Marshall, of the home; her daughters, Keli Patterson and husband Lance, of Ponca City, Okla., and Tara Stewart and companion Chris Wilkey, of Arkansas City; stepchildren, Tammy Marshall and husband Adam, of New Braunfels, Texas, Sherra Cross and husband Mark, of Bowling Green, Ky., and Eddie Marshall, of Ponca City; grandchildren, Caitlyn Lane and his fiance, Sierra, Megan, Siara, Ashlee, Adam, Jacob, Jared, Bryce, Davis and Layne; as well as a host of family and friends that Carolyn considered family.
