Katherine Shreffler, 93, of Arkansas City, passed away Monday, July 1, 2019, at the Winfield Senior Living Center.
Friends can greet the family from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 7, at Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home and Crematory. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Katherine was born Feb. 25, 1926, to Martin and Alice (Alexander) Taylor in Madill, Okla. She was raised and educated in Madill, graduating from Madill High School in 1944. After high school, she attended Bethany Peniel College (Southern Nazarene University) where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree.
On Aug. 26, 1949, she married Charles S. Shreffler in Sapulpa, Okla. The couple made their home in Kansas City, Mo.; Ocala, Fla.; Greenbrier, Ark.; Hannibal, Mo.; St. Louis, Mo.; Sullivan, Mo.; and Helena, Okla.; before settling in Arkansas City. Katherine worked for USD 470 as an elementary teacher for Frances Willard Elementary School for many years until her retirement. She was loved and admired by her students and peers. Katherine was a longtime member of the First Church of the Nazarene.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, and a daughter, Kathy Hickey.
Survivors include her sons, Sam Shreffler and wife Susan, of Texas, and Joe Shreffler and wife Margie, of California; grandchildren, Joey Shreffler and wife Chance, of California, Steven Shreffler and wife Melissa, of Texas, Robbie Shreffler, of California, Drew Shreffler, of California, Sher Hicky and Dustin Hickey, both of Arkansas City; and 11 great-grandchildren.
