Virginia Linnebur, wife and mother of six children, passed away Monday, July 20, 2020 in Mulvane at the age of 90.
A funeral Mass is at 10 a.m. Friday, July 31, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Mulvane. The Rosary will precede the service at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, 1938 E. 12th Ave., in Winfield. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 30, at Smith Family Mortuary in Mulvane. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church 525 E. Virginia was born April 24, 1930, in Ness City to John and Catherine Weilert. She grew up during the Depression and in the heart of the Dust Bowl as one of 17 children. She met her husband, Francis, on a blind date. They married Oct. 20, 1956, and started their family 10 months later with the birth of their first of six.
Virginia’s career was one of a homemaker, and she was the very best at it for 64 years. Her favorite thing to do was to go fishing. She loved cooking, baking and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed dancing when she got the chance. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Winfield for more than 40 years and volunteered as an active member of the Holy Name Altar Society. Our Lord was first in her life, and she said many times over the past few years that she had a wonderful life and was ready to meet Him.
Virginia was preceded in death by her oldest son, Henry, of Mulvane.
She is survived by her husband, Francis Linnebur, of Mulvane; daughter-in-law, Alice, of Mulvane; son, Al Linnebur and wife, Denise, of Andover; son, Ric Linnebur and wife, Tracy, of Van Alstyne, Texas; son, Jim Linnebur and wife, Faith, of Ponca City, Okla.; daughter, Cathy Phillips and husband, Joe, of El Dorado; and son, Tom Linnebur and wife, Lisa, of Sherman, Texas; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
