Claude “Ray” Beane Jr., 74, of Ormond Beach, Fla., passed away Friday, June 19, 2020, after a short illness.

Born June 22, 1945, in Ponca City, Okla., to Claude R. Bean and Estelle Julia (Heath) Bean, Ray was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he earned many medals. He served more than 20 years, retiring as a First Sergeant on May 31, 1989.
An avid NASCAR and Harley Davidson enthusiast, Ray could often be found on his bike or skipping commercials to watch the latest recorded race. Ray had recently married Angela Avallone, and they enjoyed the last several months together going to the beach, playing cards and dancing.
Ray was predeceased in death by his late wife, Cheri Beane; daughter, Shelly Beane; and his grandsons, Jon Duncan and Colt Beane.
Ray is survived by his wife, “Angel,” of the home; son, Del Beane (Katrenia), Arkansas City; daughters, Shandra Hatfield (Mike Lauffer), Winfield, and Cindy Ward (Keith), Tulsa, Okla.; sisters, LaNora Sparks, Arkansas City, and Jeanne Gardner (Robert), Springdale, Ark.; grandchildren, Christopher Duncan (Sarah), Justin Swartzell (Vanessa), Christa Ransom (Kerry), Ashley Hatfield, Brianna Beane and Chase Ward; and five great-grandsons.
