James Delbert “Jim” Childs, 71, of Parkerfield, died Thursday, July 4, 2019, at his residence.
A celebration of life is at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 18, at the Chestnut Avenue Venue. Cremation has been effected.

Jim was born July 5, 1947, in Arkansas City, to Delbert and Mattie “Irene” (Stone) Childs. Jim was reared and educated in Arkansas City, graduating from Arkansas City High School in 1965. He later attended Cowley College. Jim married Cynthia D. “Cindy” Ebert on Nov. 14, 1978, at the First United Methodist Church. Jim has worked his whole life as a farmer alongside his father and later with his children. He was also a heavy equipment operator. Among his many interests, Jim especially enjoyed drag racing, working on cars with sons and grandson and coyote hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy, of the home; children, Janet and husband, Darrell Rogers, of Olathe, Clint Childs, of Boynton, Okla., Lynn and husband, Jason Hensley, of Arkansas City, and Brad Childs and fiancée, Jess Chilcote, of Arkansas City; sister, Jeanette and husband, Arland Barker, of Parkerfield; eight grandchildren, Amanda Evinger, Kayla Childs, Jesse Hensley, Zeke Hensley, Austin Hensley, Chayna Childs, Xavier Childs, Daphne Childs; and nine great-grandchildren.
