Mary Jane (Moore) Fitzgerald, of Sun City, Ariz., passed away Saturday, April 25, 2020, due to complications from cancer surgery.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mary Jane was born Oct. 15, 1944, to Loel F. and Alice A. (Rush) Moore, in Winfield. She grew up in the Eaton community, east of Winfield. She graduated from Winfield High School in 1962. She married Richard Hopper of Grenola in 1963. The couple later divorced.
Mary Jane moved to the Phoenix, Ariz., area in the 1980s with her companion, Joe Johnston.
She married the love of her life, Stephen Fitzgerald, on March 21, 2018 in Youngtown, Ariz. She was president of the Sun City Carvers Club and belonged to the Wickenberg Art Club.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents and her companion, Joe Johnston.
Mary Jane is survived by her husband, Stephen (“Fitz”) Fitzgerald, of Sun City, Ariz.; her son, Rick Hopper, of South Carolina; granddaughter, Cassandra (Paul) Chhoen, of Aurora, Colo.; brother, William (Jane) Moore, of Geuda Springs; four great-granddaughters; niece, Gretchen (Wilbur) Scobee, of Wellington; nephew, Chad Moore, of Wellington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
