Jon D. Krug, 53, of Winfield, passed away Saturday morning, March 10, 2018, at his home.
The family will hold graveside memorial services at 3 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2018, at the Atlanta Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.milesfuneralservice.com.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest a memorial to help defray funeral expenses. Contributions can be made through Miles Funeral Service in Winfield.
Born Dec. 22, 1964, in Winfield, he was the son of James R. and Misako (Tanaka) Krug. The family was stationed due to J.R.’s military service, and Jon received his education all over the world, including Japan, England, Iran and Texas. He graduated from Central High School in Burden in 1983 and then attended and graduated from Cowley County Community College. Jon then joined the United States Air Force and proudly served his country. Following his honorable discharge from the service he returned to Kansas, where he attended Wichita State University. While attending school, he worked as a quality control manager at Rubbermaid before working at General Electric.
Jon excelled as a student as well as being a talented baseball player. He was very religious, generous, and had a strong faith in God. In addition to baseball, he enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
Jon was preceded in death by his mother.
His family includes his father, J.R. Krug and wife Melanie, of Winfield; and his brothers, Joe Krug of Winfield, Jamie Krug and wife, Sheila, of Winfield, and Justin Krug and wife, Chantal, of Seattle, Wash.
