Dorothy Jean Tredway, 90, of Laverne, Okla., went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, July 14, 2020.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Dorothy was cremated and a private family burial will occur at a later date.
Memorial donations can be made to Parkview Pointe Senior Living, 721 SW Second St., Laverne, OK 73848. Arrangements are through Wilkinson Funeral Service of Buffalo, Okla.
Dorothy was born Aug. 20, 1929 in Woodlawn, Tenn., to Lewis and Etta Payne. Dorothy attended one year of high school at Clarksville and graduated from Moline High School in 1947. She married Dorth (Bud) Tredway on Oct. 8, 1949. They moved to Burden 1952. She started work in 1964 at Winfield State Hospital and Training Center as a psychiatric aide. She worked there for 25 years before retiring in 1989. Her husband, Bud, preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 1985.
Dorothy continued to reside in Burden until 2016, when she moved to Winfield. She moved in 2018 to Laverne, Okla., to be closer to her daughter, Lori. She was a member of the Burden First United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of the Eastern Star Chapter. Her passions were making quilts, tending to her flowers and playing on the computer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud; son, Steve Tredway; sister, Juanita; brothers, Douglas and Bob Payne; and her mother, Etta Kubits.
Survivors include daughter, Lori Howell and husband, Pat, of Fort Supply, Okla.; son, Doug and wife, Pam, of Mount Hope; sister, Pat Merritt, of Mission Viejo, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Joann Payne, of Fort Worth, Texas, and Gail Tredway, of Winfield; grandchildren, Michael Tredway and family, of Derby, Jeremy Tredway, of Wichita, and Brandon Tredway and family, of Steinback, Canada; stepgrandchildren, Chris Howell and family, of Skiatook, Okla., and Jennie Howell and family, of Atlanta, Ga.
