Aletha was born March 30, 1945, in Arkansas City, to Melvin and Vera (Lively) Patterson. She graduated in 1963 from Arkansas City High School. She married Edward F. Stewart, a sailor in the U.S. Navy, on Jan. 2, 1966.

She was blessed in 1967 with the gift of twin girls, Kali Lynn and Kelli Jo. From that point on, the love of music was the tie that binds and a trio was born. Together they enjoyed going around to different churches, singing and praising the Lord. Aletha’s love for God was evident to all who befriended her.

Aletha was a compassionate and selfless person, and a friend to all who needed one. She worked for the Arkansas City Hospital for 30 years and during that time helped many through some very difficult situations. She loved her work and the many people she met along the way.

Of the many talents she possessed, being “the best Grandma in the world” was her favorite. She lived up to that title with every phone call, card, trip to the store and the loving advice about God, family and friends only a loving grandmother was willing to pass on. This was her greatest joy in life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Kali Lynn Stewart; and granddaughter, Trisha Ann Nungesser.

Aletha is survived by her daughter, Kelli J. Nungesser and husband, Wesley, of Rose Hill; grandchildren, Brandon R. Nungesser and wife, Kaylee, of Wichita, and Mathew J. Nungesser, of Rose Hill; brother, Gary M. Patterson and wife, Sue, of Ponca City, Okla.; and sister, Joyce L. Schumacher and husband, Robert, of Blasdell, N.Y.; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom she adored.
