Sarah was born April 21, 1929, and was raised and lived her entire life in Arkansas City. The youngest of seven children, she was often responsible for caring for her next oldest sibling, Patty. Sarah’s mother died when she was in high school. Soon after graduating, she married Keith Lewis and they established their home in Arkansas City, raising their two sons, Walter and Randall.
Sarah was known for her generosity, making and giving food to neighbors, friends and members of her congregation. Sarah loved to “accessorize” with hats and jewelry. She enjoyed music, especially singing in the church choir and the Sweet Adelines.
After the loss of her husband, she was able to maintain her home and live independently for many years. Sarah ultimately made the decision to move to assisted living and continued to socialize.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Nellie; siblings; husband, Keith; and son, Randy; and all Lewis in-laws.
Sarah is survived by her son, Wally and his wife, Kathleen, of Reno, Nev.; grandson, Matthew, of Anchorage, Alaska, and extended Abbott and Lewis family members.
