Kody Glenn Kearns, 61, passed away Friday, May 15, 2020, at Harry Hynes Hospice at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita following a cerebral hemorrhage.
A graveside memorial service is at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 20 at Highland Cemetery. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements. Memorials can be made to Harry Hynes Hospice.
Kody was born Aug. 20, 1958, at The Queens Hospital in Honolulu, to Robert and Phyllis Kearns. He attended schools in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1976. He attended Southwestern College and Wichita State University.
He was an avid reader, particularly fond of science fiction, and became fascinated by computers. His work experiences included Winfield State Hospital and Training Center and in the information technology department at the University of Nevada as webmaster at both the Henderson and Las Vegas campuses. His most recent work was with audiovisual innovators in Lafayette, La., before suffering a major stroke in 2013.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert; stepmother, Irene Kearns; and grandparents, Keesey and Kearns.
He is survived by his estranged wife, Michelle, of Lafayette, La.; daughters, Kaitlyn Kearns, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Abigail Kearns, of Little Rock, Ark.; grandson. P.J.; parents, Phyllis and George Cramer, of Salina; sister, Kollene Hudson and husband, Mike, of Winfield; stepsister, Kate Cramer, of York, England; Chris Cramer, of Hereford, England; Teresa Kunkle Young and husband, Melvin; Steven Kunkle and wife, Judy; his aunt, Faye McArtor and uncle, Wayne Keesey; cousins of the Kearns, McArtor, Lockyear, Keesey and Vaughters families; and many nieces and nephews.
