Sharon Marlene “Pork” Dory, 73, of Grenola, passed away Friday, Sept. 11, 2020, at her home.
Graveside services are at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17 at Green Lawn Cemetery in Grenola.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society. Contributions can be mailed to or left with the funeral home. Services have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E. Washington, P.O. Box 1233, Howard, KS 67349.
Sharon was born Aug. 4, 1947, in Portland, Ore., to Alvin and Margaret (Hodges) Youngs. She grew up alongside 13 siblings and attended schools in Gresham, Ore.
Sharon married Richard Dory Sr. on July 1, 1963 in Oregon City, Ore. They made the move in 1967 to Kansas when Richards’ mom and dad moved here. Together, they raised three children and were married 49 years until his passing in October 2012.
Sharon worked a few different jobs through her life, but her career was being a housewife, mom and grandma. She loved her kids and truly enjoyed being grandma. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, George, Ernie, John and Martin; and sisters, Ruby, Mary, Cora, Shirley and Betty.
Sharon is survived by her children, Richard (Tina) Dory Jr., of Winfield, Kathlene (Monty) Hart, of Longton, and Charlene (Phillip) Bosley, of Independence; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sisters, Alice (James) Joseph, of Sandy, Ore., Sarah (Jerry) Jones, of Boring, Ore., Geroldine Crum and Eric, of Madras, Ore., and Loretta Stufflebean, of Gresham, Ore.
