Ervin Leroy Stout, 84, of Arkansas City, passed away Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020, at the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center in Wichita.
He was cremated at Baker Funeral Home in Wichita and will be buried at Riverview Cemetery. According to Ervin’s wish, a graveside service is at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15.
Ervin was born Nov. 22, 1935, in Eaton, Okla., to Charles T. Stout and Zelma B. Gould. He later lived in Geuda Springs. He had one brother, Charles Ranchler Stout; two half-brothers, Arvil Woods and Virgil Woods; and two half-sisters, Alene Woods and Agnes Lavena Woods.
He married Maurine Davis and they had two boys, Michael Stout, of Winfield, and one who died in infancy.
He married Charlotte Bates Upton in 1989 in Englewood, Colo.
Ervin was an Army veteran, serving from March 1956 to March 1959, with the rank of corporal.
He was preceded in death by his father; mother; brothers and sisters; one son, Mark Stout; one stepson, William Upton; and one grandchild.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte A. Stout, of Arkansas City; his son, Michael, of Winfield; two stepsons, Daniel Upton, of Arkansas City, and Josh Eslick, of Wyoming; two stepdaughters, Jennifer Behara and Jay Campbell, of Arkansas City, and Jamie and Brandon Miller, of Denver; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Upton; a sister- and brother-in-law, Robert and Shirley Adams, of Arkansas City; a nephew, Quintin Stout, and a first cousin, Lester W. Stout, both of Arkansas City; grandchildren, Courtney, Kaleb, Khris, Casey, Amanda, Brandon, Bridgette, Mickelle, John, Ayla and Rachel; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces in the Stout and Gould families.
