Beginning Friday, June 7, and continuing each Friday in June and July, the Winfield Municipal Band will perform its Friday night concerts at the new Performance Venue in Island Park. There has been some confusion about these concerts, and I would like to provide some clarification.

A month or so ago, an article appeared in the CourierTraveler about Island Park Productions, which is hosting free concerts in Island Park during the spring and summer. It was stated that the park would be closed to vehicle traffic and parking for these concerts. This is true.

Some people thought the city band was part of these concerts, but this is not the case. To be clear, the city band concerts are NOT part of the Island Park Productions concert series, and the park will be open to traffic and parking during the city band's Friday night concerts.

The city band's first concert will be Friday, June 7, and it will be joined by the Kansas Army National Guard's 35th Infantry Division Band. This concert will start at 7 p.m. The remaining summer concerts will be at the usual 7:30 p.m. start time.
