This letter to the editor is in response to an article “Inappropriate for children,” published May 24.

It’s 2019 — well past time that we stop spewing hate towards our LGBTQ neighbors in the name of God. PBS airing a homosexual wedding on Arthur is only “radical” in the same sense that Mr. Rogers was “radical” for sharing a foot bath with a black man in 1969. It is just as appropriate today to teach our children to be inclusive and tolerant towards someone of another sexuality just as we should be tolerant and inclusive of a person of another race or someone with a disability.

The Bible commands us to love our neighbors as ourselves and Jesus exemplified that teaching through his radical inclusiveness; everyone has a place at the table of God’s kingdom, regardless of social status, race, sexuality, disability, etc. “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Gal. 3:28)

PBS is not “pushing their sexual ideology on young children” by promoting tolerance and respect for others or by teaching kids that it’s ok for their friend to have two moms or two dads.
