Builders shut out at home

Southwestern College sophomore defenseman Bryson Guinn seizes control of the ball.

The Southwestern College men’s soccer team suffered a 3-0 shutout loss at home Wednesday night against Kansas Wesleyan in KCAC play.

The Builders (8-5, 4-3 KCAC) have been shut out in three of their past four games.

Jose Rivera put the Coyotes (8-5-1, 7-0-1) on the board with 15:28 left in the first half. Daniel Huizar made it 2-0 19 minutes later as KWU took a 2-0 lead at the break.

The Coyotes had a strong attack all night, outshooting Southwestern 11-5.

Rivera netted his second goal in the 57th minute.

“We were able to move the ball and control tempo like we wanted to,” SC coach Kyle Pond said. “We just could not get our shots across.”

The Builders hit the road at 3:30 p.m. today at Tabor.
