SOUTH HAVEN — South Haven High School junior Cooper Wolf poured in 32 points Monday night, leading the Cardinals to a 59-49 victory against Oxford in the quarterfinals of the Class 1A Regional Tournament.

Class 1A is the only classification in the KSHSAA to have Regional tournaments before Sub-States.

The fourth-seeded Cardinals (10-11) advanced to the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. Thursday against No. 1 seed Udall (17-3) at Central of Burden High School.

Wolf scored 12 points in the first half, but South Haven nursed a 24-22 lead at the break. He erupted for 13 third-quarter points when the Cardinals outscored Oxford 15-9.

Hack-a-Wolf resulted in no baskets in the fourth quarter, but the 6-foot forward sank 7 of 8 from the foul line down the stretch and 8 of 9 overall.

Sophomore Tucker Locke added 13 points, sinking two of his three baskets from 3-point range in the fourth quarter for the Cardinals, who were 11 of 15 from the line overall. Senior Taylor Mclain chipped in eight points for South Haven.

Andrew Hills nearly matched Wolf, scoring 17 of his team-high 26 points in the first half in what turned out to be his final game in an Oxford uniform.

Hills joined fellow seniors Anthony Schulte, Ty Carter and Hunter Norland as seniors playing for the final time for the Wildcats (7-14), who were 9 of 13 from the line. The seniors combined for 38 of fifth-seeded Oxford’s 49 points.
