Timely offense, coupled with stellar defense has been the ticket most of the season for the Winfield High School football team.
That was the case again Friday night against Augusta at Richard L. Jantz Stadium, as the host Vikings rolled to a 25-7 victory in AV-CTL D-III action.
The Vikings (4-1, 2-1 AV-CTL D-III) piled up 411 yards of total offense while holding Augusta to 190.
Quarterback KC Crandall completed 9 of 15 passes for 177 yards and a touchdown, a 21-yard strike to Jake Kaufman with 1:43 left in the first half that helped Winfield to a 12-0 lead at the intermission.
After a scoreless first quarter, Ar'mon Acosta put the Vikings on the board with a 5-yard TD run.
Tailback Nolan Foust added a pair of second-half touchdown runs and finished with 93 yards on 15 carries. Ryan Andrews capped the scoring with a 3-yard TD run.
Winfield forced one turnover and Kaufman twice sacked Augusta quarterbacks.
Andrews finished with 73 yards on 18 carries for the Orioles (2-3, 1-3).
