The Cowley College men’s basketball team has averaged nearly 111 points per game in 10 nonconference games, and topped that number Tuesday night by racing past Northwest Kansas Tech 124-90 in the conference opener for both teams at W.S. Scott Auditorium.

The Tigers (9-2, 1-0 Jayhawk East) raced out to a 17-4 lead and led 59-39 at the end of the first half.

The lead grew to 72-44 before the Mavericks (2-6, 0-1 Jayhawk West) used a 14-0 run to cut the deficit in half, 72-58.

Cowley freshman Dalen Ridgnal buried a 3-pointer to boost the lead to 85-63 and the Tigers weren’t threatened after that.

Every player on the roster but one scored and Cowley players scored in double figures.

Will Mangum led the Tigers with 17 points and seven rebounds, while Ridgnal added 13 points and 10 boards.

Joshua Robinson led all scorers with 21 points for the Mavericks.

The Tigers play at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Barton (8-1).
