BUHLER — Winfield High School senior Jack Mull captured three gold medals Friday at the Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail League Division III Championships.

The Vikings finished a solid third with four gold medals and 101 points, 16 points behind runner-up Buhler (117), which also won four individual golds. League champ McPherson (154) won three individual gold medals and one relay. El Dorado took two individual golds and two relay titles, while Augusta and Towanda-Circle earned one gold medal apiece.

The Lady Vikings (39) placed fifth, with one gold medal.

Girls league champ McPherson ran away with the title, taking home six individual medals and one relay for 198 points. Runner-up Buhler (115) earned four individual golds and two relay titles, while Augusta and Circle won two gold medals each.

Mull swept the hurdles events, winning the 110-meter hurdles in 14.72 seconds and taking the 300 hurdles in 39.86 seconds. Mull won the pole vault by six inches, clearing 12 feet even.

Everett continued his dominance in the discus, throwing the orb 176-4, nearly 27 feet farther than runner-up Jori Van Goethem of McPherson (149-5). Everett was third in the shot put.

Sophomore Rhea Anderson represented the Lady Vikings atop the medal stand, winning the 300 hurdles in 49.57 seconds.

Seniors Landon Davis and John Kaiser took home silver medals.

Davis was runner-up in the boys 200 (23.05), slightly behind Jordan Hawkins of Buhler (22.79). Davis moved up one spot after placing third in preliminaries (23.17).

Kaiser was second in the 400 (52.83), a fraction of a second behind Ryan Neill of Buhler (52.16).

The Vikings also were runners-up in the boys 4x400 relay (3:35.58) and third in the 4x100 relay.

Sophomores Craig LaBrue and Elly Bertholf finished third in the boys and girls 3,200, respectively.

The Class 4A Regional Championships are set for this Friday at Chanute.
