BUHLER -- The Winfield High School basketball teams returned to the court Monday night for an AV-CTL D-III makeup battle at Buhler. However, the Vikings were swept in the games, postponed Friday due to inclement weather.
The Winfield boys lost 63-42. The Lady Vikings fell 48-37.
A slow start out of the gate forced the Vikings (1-5, 1-2 AV-CTL D-III) to play catch-up most of the game. The WHS boys trailed 29-16 at halftime.
Aidan Harper and Jacob George scored 11 points apiece, with George draining three baskets from 3-point range. Nolan Foust chipped in eight points for the Vikings, who went 6 of 8 from the foul line.
Isaac LeShove led all scorers with 16 points for the Crusaders (5-2, 2-2), who were 12 of 18 from the line. Max Alexander added 14 points, and Isaiah Hernandez matched George with three treys in a nine-point effort.
The Lady Vikings (2-4, 1-2 AV-CTL D-III) were held to one Isabell Jellings free throw in the first quarter and trailed 20-10 at halftime.
Emily Randall finished with 16 points, the only Winfield player to score more than five. The Lady Vikings went 6 of 9 from the line.
Alyvia Owens led all scorers with 17 points and Maggie Epp added 12 for the Lady Crusaders (4-3, 2-2), who were just 5 of 14 from the line.
