It was business as usual for the Arkansas City High School wrestling team, which moved up two spots to No. 5 in this week’s Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association Class 5A rankings.
The Bulldogs returned to the mat for AV-CTL D-II dual action Thursday night against Goddard-Eisenhower in The Dawg Pound, and the result was similar to last week’s domination of reigning Class 6A State champion Derby.
Ark City whipped the visiting Tigers 64-18.
Eisenhower took forfeit wins at 106 and 120 pounds, but won just one head-to-head match in the dual.
Wyatt Bahm opened with the matinee at 138 pounds, earning a fall against Israel Garza 35 seconds into the second period.
No. 3-ranked Trig Tennant, fresh off of a second-place finish at the prestigious Geary Invitational, followed with a pin midway through the first period of his 145-pound bout against Noah Stevens.
Daigen Moulton followed by rolling to a 12-1 major decision against Medardis Burkhart at 152. Rhett Lathers suffered the only loss for the Bulldogs, falling to Mason Levin at 160 to make it 16-6.
The Bulldogs then reeled off four consecutive pins.
Fifth-ranked Nicholas Bahm gained a fall on Dakota Cook with three seconds left in the second period at 170. Fourth-ranked Gavin Lough earned the fastest pin of the night, needing just 43 seconds against Cole Rader at 182.
No. 3-ranked Deston Miller pinned Malachi Rogers midway through the second period at 195, and Justis Mosier made his varsity debut with a 1:28 fall against Adam Bischoff at 220.
After the teams traded forfeits, sixth-ranked 113-pounder Samuel Dickey needed just 53 seconds of mat time to earn a fall against Gabe Rosenstill.
Just for good measure, Traven Hutton (126) and Wyatt Biddle (132) ended the carnage with pins 1:51 and 5:30, respectively.
The Class 4A No. 6-ranked Winfield Vikings were scheduled to face Buhler in an AV-CTL D-III dual Thursday night in Ollie Thomas Gymnasium, but the Crusaders elected to stay home with the threat of winter weather.
Both the Bulldogs and Vikings are slated to compete this weekend at the Newton Tournament of Champions.
