Cowley College men’s soccer player Elluan Martins Gomes and women’s cross country athlete Lubna Suied were recently named Athletes of the Month.

Martins Gomes, a sophomore from Brazil, leads the Tigers with nine goals in eight games. He has helped the Tigers to a 6-1-1 overall record, 3-1-1 in the Jayhawk East.

Suied is a freshman from Tomball, Texas. She was recently named the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NJCAA Division I Women’s Cross Country National Athlete of the Week after posting a 43-second win at the Terry Masterson Twilight Classic in Hutchinson. This marked the first time that a Cowley athlete has captured the award during the cross country season.
