COLBY — Cowley College freshman Seanna Boltz, the nation’s leader in 3-pointers, did not let a 24-day layoff affect her as she drilled a school-record nine treys Saturday in a 65-46 win at Colby.

Boltz, who has hit 66 3-pointers on the season, went 9 of 19 from beyond the arc and scored a career-high 31 points. She surpassed the previous school record of eight treys set by Jenia Dimitrova in the 2000 season and equaled twice by Kaitlyn Potter in the 2017 season.

“Seanna shot it well,” Cowley coach Todd Clark said. “Her teammates did a good job of finding her.”

The win was an important one for the Lady Tigers (14-2, 4-2 Jayhawk East), who remain in a three-way tie for first place in the conference.

The game was tied at 9-9 after one quarter and the Lady Tigers led by just three, 26-23, at the end of the first half. However, Boltz scored 14 third-quarter points and Cowley’s lead grew to 53-32 heading into the fourth quarter.

“I am proud of the way our team fought through some crazy situations and was able to stretch the lead,” Clark said.

Cowley freshman Kalyne Daniels came off the bench to notch a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

“Kalyne was really good in transition,” Clark said.

The Lady Trojans (11-2 overall, 2-2 Jayhawk West) played without their top two scorers, Alize Ruiz and Nyrobi Pillars. Brittanie Brickhouse led Colby with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

The Lady Tigers play at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Dodge City. The Lady Conquistadors (8-6, 3-2 Jayhawk West) fell 59-54 on Saturday at NOC-Enid.

“Dodge City is long and athletic, so we will have our hands full,” Clark said. “We will have to play well to get out of there with a win.”
