Cowley College coaches, employees and members of the community took to the streets Wednesday for the school’s annual Blitz Drive and eclipsed $43,000 in pledges for Tiger Booster Club scholarships, with additional funds still trickling in.
The athletic department plans to reach out in the next few weeks to individuals they were unable to connect with on Wednesday. Following those connections, the final dollar amount raised projects to be close to $70,000.
Following the drive, athletic director Shane Larson thanked the supporters of the Tiger Booster Club during a reception Wednesday evening inside the Earle N. Wright Community Room. During the reception, coaches from Cowley’s fall sports programs addressed the crowd as the 2019 season nears.
“Our annual Blitz Drive is off to a great start this year and we had one of the largest audiences at our pre-season preview that we have ever had,” Larson said. “It is always fun to get the new school year and fall sport season started off with such great support and enthusiasm. We have incredible support from our boosters, faculty and staff at Cowley. On behalf of the coaches and athletic staff thank you to Tiger Nation, we are looking forward to another great year of Cowley athletics.”
The Tiger Skins/Brian Groves Memorial Golf Tournament preceded the Blitz Drive.
During the past year, Cowley athletic teams combined for 11 national tournament appearances. In addition, several athletes were named to the 2018-19 All-American and Academic All-American teams.
The Tiger Booster Club has six levels of membership that range from $120 to $2,500. TBC members are admitted free to all Cowley sporting events. Orange and Black Club ($1,000) members and Super Boosters ($2,500) will have an opportunity to display their business logo on Cowley’s athletic website. Additional advertising opportunities are also available on the web site.
