Six Winfield High School baseball players were named to the all-league team in voting by Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail League Division III coaches.
Pitcher Conner Woods and outfielder Ethan Owen, who will enter their senior year in the fall, both earned all-league first-team status.
Woods tied for the overall league lead in wins, compiling a 6-3 record with a 2.09 ERA. He tossed a league-high 47 innings and struck out a league-high 64 while walking 11. Woods went 5-0 with a 1.12 ERA in league play, including handing the league-champion Buhler Crusaders their only league loss of the season.
First baseman Jake Kaufman, shortstop KC Crandall and outfielder Nolan Foust, all incoming seniors, were named to the second team.
Tiger tandem honored
Cowley College sophomores Angelo Yasuro Ito Tost and Bruno Hidaka Suiama, who advanced to the National championship match at the NJCAA Division I National Championships, were named Inter-collegiate Tennis Association National Junior College Athletic Association All-Americans.
The duo helped the Tigers to finish in a tie for fourth place at the National tournament.
Cowley College sophomore catcher Cody Milligan and freshman outfielder Tyler Halstead were named to the All-Tournament team at the conclusion of the Juco College World Series.
Milligan batted .500 at the Series with nine RBI and nine runs. He finished the season batting .453 with 65 RBI and a school-record nine triples. He also was successful on all 30 stolen-base attempts.
Halstead batted .545 at the Series with seven runs and five RBI. He finished the season batting .310 with four home runs and 36 RBI, and was second behind Milligan with 21 stolen bases.
Winfield High School pitcher Traiton Suttles, who will enter his junior year in the fall, was named to the all-league first team in balloting by Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail League Division III baseball coaches.
Suttles was a two-way all-leaguer, earning honorable mention at shortstop.
Second baseman KC Crandall and outfielder Steele Morin, also incoming juniors, were named to the all-league second team.
Another incoming junior, pitcher-third baseman Connor Woods, earned honorable mention.
Lady ’Dawgs represent
Four members of the Arkansas City High School girls soccer team earned honorable mention in Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail League Division II all-league voting by league coaches.
Karen Rodriquez, who will begin her senior year in the fall, was an honorable mention midfielder.
Taryn McNickle, another incoming senior, earned honorable mention as a defender.
Goalkeeper Regan Branch, who will enter her junior year in the fall, also earned honorable mention.
Brandy Barron, an incoming sophomore, received honorable mention at forward.
