A game that saw six ties and seven lead changes ended the wrong way for the home team Monday night in The Dawg Pound.

Salina South escaped with a 45-41 nonleague victory against the Arkansas City High School boys basketball team.

The Bulldogs (3-4) had to come right back Tuesday night against Valley Center.

“We didn’t get great play from some of our guys and that hurt us, but the way we played was much more in sync than we have been all year,” ACHS coach CJ Jennings said. “I don’t think the mistakes we had down the stretch will happen again. Tomorrow will be interesting.”

Salina South led 22-14 at one point, but the Bulldogs came storming back with a 13-3 run and trailed 25-23 at halftime.

Ark City held the Cougars (5-2) to just 39-percent shooting from the floor (16 of 41), but connected on 33.3 percent (15 of 45) on the other end, including a 2-of-15 effort from 3-point range.

Josh Jordan led a balanced effort with 13 points for the Cougars, who won their fourth straight. Colin Schreiber had 12 points and AJ Johnson tossed in 11 for Salina South.
