The Southwestern College women’s soccer team dropped its first conference game of the season Saturday night, falling to Ottawa 2-1 at Richard L. Jantz Stadium.

The Lady Braves (3-9, 3-3 KCAC) went into halftime with an early 2-0 lead on a goal by Reighna Werner just four minutes in, followed by a score from Yecenia Sanchez with 10 minutes left in the half.

Despite being outshot 15-9, Ottawa was able to capitalize off some nice attacks.

Southwestern answered nicely the second half, cutting the deficit in half on a Sabrina Arzate 20-yard strike.

Junior Emily Sutton finished with four saves in goal for the Lady Builders (8-2-2, 3-1-2).

The Lady Builders face Oklahoma Wesleyan (8-2, 5-0) at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in Bartlesville, Okla.
