Cowley College freshman Lubna Suied was named the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NJCAA Division I Women’s Cross Country National Athlete of the Week.

Suied helped the Lady Tigers to win their season-opening cross country meet by posting a 43-second win Friday at the Terry Masterson Twilight Classic in Hutchinson. She covered the three-mile course in 18 minutes, 40.8 seconds.

This marks the first time that a Cowley athlete has been named National Athlete of the Week during cross country season.
