The Arkansas City High School football team drew the straw that perhaps nobody wanted.
The Bulldogs (2-6), the No. 12 seed in the Class 4A West Regional, must make the four-hour trek west to play at No. 5-seeded Ulysses (5-3) next Friday in the Week 9 playoffs.
There's a catch.
The fourth-seeded Winfield Vikings (5-4), who clinched a Week 9 home playoff game several weeks ago, plays host to No. 13 El Dorado (2-6), a fellow team in the AV-CTL D-III that the Vikings defeated 17-0 in Week 6 on Oct. 11 in El Dorado.
Should the Vikings and Bulldogs both emerge victorious next Friday, they would play each other in the 4A Regionals in two weeks.
Mark your calendars.
