LINDSBORG — The Cowley College women’s basketball team wrapped up an unbeaten nonconference slate with a pair of road wins during the weekend.

The Lady Tigers rolled Friday against the Kansas Wesleyan junior varsity 78-52 in Salina before topping the Bethany College JV 65-53 on Saturday in Lindsborg.

A huge second quarter Friday saw the Lady Tigers (10-0) outscored KWU 30-12 en route to a 45-24 halftime lead. Cowley hit 14 of 26 from 3-point range in the game and outshot the Lady Coyotes 53.6 percent to 26.3 percent from the floor.

Cowley freshman Seanna Boltz came off the bench to go 7 of 12 from beyond the arc in a game-high 21-point effort.

“Seanna really played well,” Cowley coach Todd Clark said. “She got a lot of open looks and knocked them down.”

Freshman guards Milenna Fromming and Shontrice Austin finished with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Caila Hill led the Lady Coyotes with 19 points and eight rebounds.

Boltz had the hot hand off the bench again Saturday, going 5 of 13 from long range and leading all scorers with 17 points.

Cowley led 39-19 at the end of the first half and was never really threatened against a Bethany JV squad that had lost by only two points earlier in the week at Cloud County.

Fromming again finished with 12 points, while Austin added 12 points and nine rebounds. Freshman Jayden Marlnee finished with 11 points and six rebounds.

Taryn Kuhn led the Lady Swedes with 14 points and nine rebounds.

The Lady Tigers open conference play at 5:30 p.m. today against Northwest Kansas Tech.

“I feel like we have gotten better and our schedule allowed us to build a little bit of confidence heading into conference play,” Clark said. “Northwest Tech has got a nice team, so we will need to be better defensively.”
