LAWRENCE — Trinity Holman homered and MacKenzie Lyons collected both wins in the pitching circle Friday in a nonconference doubleheader sweep at Haskell Indian Nations.
Southwestern took the opener 4-2 and won the nightcap 14-3.
The Lady Builders (5-9) saved their best for last, scoring six runs in the top of the sixth inning of Game 2.
Lyons, Loren Wright and Cady Norton stroked consecutive doubles in the big inning, and one out later Jecca Autry drove in two more runs with the fourth double of the frame.
The Lady Builders scored in every inning but one in the nightcap and outhit Haskell 15-5 after outhitting the Lady Indians (1-7) 12-3 in the opener.
Lyons went the distance in the circle in Game 2, giving up only an unearned run and three hits, with one walk and one strikeout.
Southwestern scored an unearned run in the top of the first, and Cassidy Schubert tripled home a run in a two-run second. Holman drove a full-count offering from losing pitcher Kylee Sellers over the fence in center with two out in the third for her first home run of the season to make it 4-1.
Autry was hit by a pitch and Kayleen Gonzalez walked with the bases loaded in a two-run fifth for the Lady Builders. Wright and Norton provided RBI singles in a two-run sixth before Southwestern broke it open an inning later.
Sydni Fulks had three hits and scored three runs from the leadoff spot. Norton added three hits and two RBI, while Lyons, Wright and Holman contributed two hits apiece. Autry drove in three, and Gonzales had two RBI.
Sellers allowed 10 earned runs on 15 hits and five walks, with six strikeouts in going the distance in the circle for the Lady Indians.
Southwestern used a three-run second inning to take the opener.
Lyons went five strong innings in the circle, scattering two hits and two runs, one earned, with three strikeouts and no walks. Maria Montoya took over in the sixth and shut down Haskell on one hit while striking out one in two scoreless innings.
Southwestern spotted the Lady Indians an unearned run in the bottom of the first inning, but took the lead for good in the second.
Sierra Meyer and Norton led off with singles and Fulks walked to load the bases with one out.
Alexis Gouyton singled home the tying run, and Norton trotted home when right fielder Telain Williams misplayed Lyons’ sacrifice fly. Wright followed with another sacrifice fly to drive home Fulks.
Sellers drove home a run for Haskell in the fourth inning on a sac fly, but the Lady Builders added an insurance tally in the top of the fifth when Norton led off with a single and Fulks drove in pinch-runner Kallie Albrecht with a single.
Norton finished a perfect 3 for 3 with a walk, while Meyer and Schubert added two hits apiece for Southwestern.
Sabrina Branch went the distance in the circle for Haskell, giving up four runs, two earned, on 12 hits and three walks, with one strikeout.
The Lady Builders return home for their final nonconference action with a 3 p.m. twinbill today against Peru State.
