Seven players scored seven or more points for the Cowley College women’s basketball team in an 86-72 victory Saturday night against Neosho County at W.S. Scott Auditorium.

After being held to only four points the previous two games, Cowley’s leading scorer, Seanna Boltz, broke out for 26 points behind 8-of-17 shooting from 3-point range. Boltz hit a pair of treys in the opening minute and the Lady Tigers (17-9, 7-9 Jayhawk East) raced out to a 13-3 lead.

Neosho County came back to tie the game 17-17 after one quarter and the score remained tied 33-33 until the Lady Tigers hit 3-pointers on each of their final three possessions of the first half, including one by freshman Milena Fromming that gave Cowley a 42-33 lead heading into halftime.

The Lady Tigers buried four 3-pointers in the third quarter to extend the lead to 65-52 and Boltz drained 3 of 4 from beyond the arc in the fourth quarter.

“I am so happy for this team — they have worked so hard to get this win,” Cowley coach Todd Clark said.

Freshman Torri Vang scored 14 points and pulled down six rebounds, while Kalyne Daniels added 13 points and eight boards off the bench.

Cowley outrebounded the Lady Panthers 50-43 as Jayden Marlnee (nine points, 12 rebounds) and Shontrice Austin (nine points, 10 rebounds) just missed double-doubles.

Sophomore Jessica Jones went 8 of 18 from 3-point range and led all scorers with 30 points for the Lady Panthers (10-14, 4-12).

The Lady Tigers were set to play Monday night at Cloud County.
