Cooper hits 1,000-point mark

BURDEN — South Haven High School junior Cooper Wolf eclipsed the 1,000-point mark in his high school career Friday night in an 84-57 South Central Border League victory at Central of Burden.

Wolf, who entered the game 19 points shy of the mark, finished with a game-high 22 points for the Cardinals (7-9, 3-2 SCBL).

South Haven jumped out to a 16-7 first-quarter lead and led 34-20 at halftime.

The resilient Raiders (3-11, 0-5) put up 37 second-half points, but a 31-point third quarter by South Haven allowed the Cardinals to pull away.

The teams combined for 43 personal fouls and 43 free throws. The Cardinals connected on 17 of 29 from the line, while Central was 14 of 25.

Hunter Meyer buried four baskets from 3-point range in a 14-point effort for South Haven. Tucker Locke also drained four treys for 12 points, and Taylor Mclain gave the Cardinals four players in double figures with 11 points.

Logan Braun finished with 18 points and Lane Toon added 16 for Central.

Udall 35, Sedan 28

UDALL — The Udall Eagles pulled away in the fourth quarter to upend Sedan 35-28 in a low-scoring battle Friday night to keep pace atop the SCBL standings.

The Eagles (13-2, 5-0 SCBL) remain tied with Cedar Vale/Dexter (14-1) with perfect records in league play.

Udall led just 7-5 after the first quarter, but the Blue Devils (9-6, 3-2) pulled ahead 15-14 at halftime.

The Eagles nursed a one-point lead, 22-21, into the fourth quarter and sank 5 of 8 from the foul line down the stretch.

Austin King led all scorers with 14 points and Brayden Sadler added nine points for the Eagles, who were 9 of 14 from the line overall.

Eli Campbell hit a pair of 3-pointers in a 12-point effort for the Blue Devils, who were just 3 of 10 from the line and didn’t take a foul shot in the fourth quarter.
