HOBBS, N.M. — The Cowley College women’s track and field team produced All-Americans in nine event while placing ninth last weekend at the NJCAA Division I National Outdoor Championships.

The finish marked the second straight year the Lady Tigers have placed in the top 10 at Nationals.

The Cowley men produced two All-Americans and finished 24th.

“The coaching staff was very happy with the ladies’ team and a little disappointed our men’s team didn’t do better,” Cowley coach Mark Phillips said.

Sophomore Ieshia Dickerson earned All-American honors in three events. She finished fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 11 minutes, 58.55 seconds, and placed eighth in the 5,000. She also ran a leg on the National runner-up 4x800 relay team, joining Sasha Elizondo, Raye Moran and Anna Keller to finish in 9:27.49.

Elizondo also earned All-American status with a fourth-place finish in the 1,500 in her freshman year.

Thais Lindemayer Gomes was fourth in the pole vault to take All-American honors.

Former Arkansas City High School standout Erika Hoag earned All-American honors with a seventh-place finish in the javelin.

Kayla Noear finished sixth in the discus to earn All-American honors.

Harlie Schmeling Hanson was an All-American in the 10,000 by placing seventh.

Takia Zachary captured All-American honors with a fifth-place finish in the high jump.

Tanner Blackmore and Nathan Vann were All-Americans for the Cowley men.

Vann finished third in the decathlon with 6,200 points, while Blackmore placed eighth in the 800.

“We had a very good year, and sometimes it comes together at Nationals and sometimes it doesn’t,” Phillips said.

Cloud County captured the men’s National championship, while New Mexico Junior College won its third consecutive women’s National title.

1,500 — Elizondo, 4:53.24, fourth, All-American; Anna Keller, 5:03.18, 11th.

5,000 — Ieshia Dickerson, 19:24.71, eighth, All-American; Harlie Schmeling Hanson, 19:56.23, 12th; Jasmin Martinez, 21:54.18, 19th.

10,000 — Schmeling Hanson, 41:36.21, seventh, All-American.

3,000 Steeplechase — Ieshia Dickerson, 11:58.55, fourth, All-American.

4x800 Relay — Cowley (Elizondo, Moran, Dickerson, Keller), 9:27.49, national runner-up, All-American.

High Jump — Takia Zachary, 5-3.5, fifth, All-American.

Discus — Kayla Noear, 146-9, sixth, All-American.

Hammer — Noear, 133-3, 20th; Caitlin Mannon, 126-4, 21st.

Javelin — Erika Hoag, 128-8, seventh, All-American.

Pole Vault — Thais Lindemayer Gomes, 11-8.25, fourth, All-American.
