The Cowley College women’s basketball team ran its winning streak to 11 games Tuesday night with a 59-40 win against Northwest Kansas Tech in the conference opener for both teams at W.S. Scott Auditorium.

The Lady Tigers (11-0, 1-0 Jayhawk East) held Northwest Tech to 28-percent shooting.

Freshman Seanna Boltz scored nine first-quarter points to help Cowley to an 18-9 first-quarter lead. Freshman Kalyne Daniels scored 10 points in the first half to help to build the lead to 31-17 at halftime.

The Lady Mavericks (4-5, 0-1 Jayhawk West) trimmed the deficit to eight, 40-32, but Cowley scored the final five points of the third quarter and the first nine points of the fourth quarter to take a commanding 54-32 lead.

The Lady Tigers held Northwest Kansas to eight points in the fourth quarter, finishing just one point away from their fewest points allowed this season, a 56-39 home victory Nov. 2 against the Tabor junior varsity.

Boltz finished 6 of 12 from 3-point range and led all scorers with 18 points, while Daniels added 17 points and a season-high 13 rebounds.

Josie Cook led the Lady Mavericks with nine points before leaving the game on a stretcher after a scary collision late in the third quarter.

The Lady Tigers return to action at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Barton.
