Last week was an exciting one for local golfers Landon Fox and Seth Bryan. Both qualified to play in the Kansas Amateur Open Tournament in Wichita July 20-26.

The two participated in the Kansas Amateur Qualifying tournament in Sand Creek Station in Newton Tuesday.

Fox had a score of minus two for a total score of 70 to capture first place, while his teammate Bryan scored minus one to take second.

The two were competing against 40 golfers at the tournament and six qualifying tournaments throughout the state. The top 17 in each qualified. A second chance tournament will be held in July.

Earlier in June the duo played in the Railor Tournament at Sand Creek Station. Out of 125 golfers, Bryan finished in a three-way tie for 18th. Fox finished in a four-way tie for 21st.

During the three-day tournament, Bryan shot a 73, 77 and 72, and Fox shot 73, 75 and 75.
