The Arkansas City Middle School and Winfield Middle School boys tennis teams found success May 6 at the Pioneer League Championships at Ark City Middle School.

The Bullpups finished second in the seven-team meet, just three points behind league champion Haysville West. The Junior Vikings placed fourth.

Ark City’s Oakley O’Donnell captured the No. 1 singles title, compiling a 2-0 record.

Teammate Luke Campbell won the title at No. 3 singles with a 2-0 mark.

Winfield’s Austin Bryant and Noah Heger cruised to the championship at No. 1 doubles.

The Bullpups had three runner-up finishes in doubles competition.

Wyatt Bahm and Bobby Schauf placed second at No. 2 doubles. Chantz Moore and Turk Gressel were runners-up at No. 3 doubles, and the tandem of Alex Arndt and Jackson Palmer finished second at No. 4 doubles.

Ark City’s Brandon Klotz was runner-up at No. 2 singes, while teammate Harris Giger placed third at No. 4 singles.

Winfield’s Elijah Thayer finished fourth at No. 3 singles. Teammates Tyler Gould and Liam DiVall were fourth at No. 3 doubles.

Josh Aguirre finished fifth at No. 1 singles and Trevyn Stanley was fifth at No. 4 singles for the Junior Vikings. Josiah Stephenson and Zerrick Vargas teamed at No. 4 doubles to finish fifth.

Jack Speer placed sixth at No. 2 singles for Winfield, while the duo of Jake Jewers and Brody Lindenman were sixth at No. 2 doubles.
