STERLING — The Southwestern College women’s basketball team battled with the No. 12 team in the nation Tuesday on the road, where Sterling used a strong fourth quarter to defeat the Lady Builders 90-65.

The Lady Builders (5-4, 2-3 KCAC) went neck-and-neck in the first quarter and trailed just 20-16, but the Lady Warriors (7-2, 5-0) led 46-32 at halftime.

Southwestern cut the deficit to seven, largely thanks to some solid defensive play holding the Lady Warriors to just 5-of-24 shooting in the third quarter.

The Lady Warriors scored the first seven points of the fourth quarter to pull away for good.

Junior Sydney Webb led Southwestern with 12 points, while senior Brittany Lawler just missed a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds. Senior Claren McCormick blocked seven shots.

Kylah Comley led all scorers with 27 points for Sterling.

The Lady Builders return home to face No. 25-ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan at 6 p.m. Dec. 5.
