The Arkansas City Invitational volleyball tournament turned into a double-dual Saturday in The Dawg Pound.

The meet wasn’t kind to area teams. Both Winfield and the host Lady Bulldogs dropped all three of their matches.

The Lady Bulldogs (0-10) were competitive against Haysville-Campus in their opener, but couldn’t pick up a set in a 25-20, 25-23 loss.

Junior Cady Dickey recorded five kills and sophomore Mika Munson added four for Ark City. Senior Hayley Trent dished out eight assists and sophomore Saylor Givens offered six assists and was 10-of-11 serving with three aces. Senior Hadley Colquhoun pulled up eight digs and Trent added seven. Munson was a perfect 8 of 8 from the line and Colquhoun went 7 of 7, with each of them picking up an ace.

Winfield went to overtime in the first set against Clearwater, but came up short 26-24, 25-12 in the first round for the Lady Vikings (2-8).

Sophomore Daisy Parsons dished out seven assists to five attackers, while connecting on 10 of 10 from the service line. Fellow soph Crosby Curtis and junior Mikayla Konrade pulled up 13 digs apiece, while Konrade and sophomore Mason Peters put up a pair of blocks each. Senior Jessica Mull was 8-of-8 serving with an ace for the Lady Vikings, who served 97 percent (35 of 36).

Ark City fell to Goddard in straight sets, 25-13, 25-22 in Round 2.

Trent, Dikey and sophomore Kamri Pool had four kills apiece, with Givens assisting 11 times. Pool put up a pair of blocks, while Colquhoun (7), Dickey (6) and Givens (5) combined for 18 digs. Givens went 9 of 9 from the line with a pair of aces, and Munson was 6 of 6.

Winfield lost to Belle Plaine 25-18, 25-20 in the second round.

After recording nine kills in the first round, the Lady Vikings managed just six in Round 2. Mull was 9-of-11 serving with an ace, while Parsons was perfect again, 6 of 6 and Curtis 5 of 5. Curtis (10) and senior Kylar Graham (8) combined for 18 digs, with Mull pulling up seven. Freshman Aleah Moree had the only block.

The Lady Bulldogs picked up a set in their third-round match against Mulvane, but ultimately lost 25-21, 16-25, 25-21.

Trent had five kills, with Givens and Pool knocking down four each. Trent offered 11 assists, while Colquhoun pulling up 14 of Ark City’s 55 digs. Munson (12), Trent (11) and Dickey (10) also recorded double-digit digs. Givens was a perfect 16 of 16 from the line with an ace, and finished the tourney 35 of 36 with six aces.

The Lady Vikings closed out the day with a 25-23, 25-16 loss to Andover Central.

Serving and defense were again Winfield’s strong suits, reeling off 95 percent (38 of 40) from the line. Konrade, Parsons and Graham all were 6-of-6 serving, while Peters was successful on her first 10 serves. Parsons and Peters had three kills apiece, and Moree had two of the Lady Vikings’ four blocks. Curtis recorded 19 digs, with Parsons getting nine and Graham eight.
