TUCSON, Ariz. — The No. 6-ranked Cowley College men’s tennis team opened play Monday at the NJCAA Division I National Championships.

Singles players Angelo Yasuro Ito Tost and Moises Goncalves opened with wins, while all three of Cowley’s doubles teams received byes in the opening round, as well as four of their six singles players.

Collin College and Wallace State are tied for first place out of 26 teams at the tournament with 14 team points.

The Tigers are in a three-way tie for 14th with four team points.

No. 1 — Angelo Yasuro Ito Tost (CC) def. Blaze Taylor-Lutz (Kaskaskia) 6-0, 6-0.

No. 2 — Bruno Hidaka Suiama (CC) received a bye in the first round.

No. 3 — Nicholas Mougaillard (CC) received a bye in the first round.

No. 4 — Valter Kenji Imura Oshiro (CC) received a bye in the first round.

No. 5 — Killian Dagneaux (CC) received a bye in the first round.

No. 6 — Moises Goncalves (CC) def. Adria Aguilar (Harford) 6-3, 6-0.

Doubles

No. 1 — Bruno Hidaka Suiama/Angelo Yasuro Ito Tost (CC) received a bye in the first round.

No. 2 — Killian Dagneaux/Nicholas Mougaillard (CC) received a bye in the first round.

No. 3 — Casey Edwards/Valter Kenji Imura Oshiro (CC) received a bye in the first round.
