The Cowley College wrestling squad gave its home fans its first glimpse at this year’s team Friday, easily defeated Oklahoma Wesleyan University 47-3 at W.S. Scott Auditorium.

Despite having to move around a few guys in different weight classes, the Tigers were victorious in all but one match.

Cowley sophomores Isaiah Banks (149 pounds) and Zachary Choate (197) won by fall, while Ottis Peeler (184) won by technical fall.

Sophomore Blake Hickerson took a hard fought 15-12 decision at 165 pounds, while freshman Tyler Bingham won 6-4 against Dailen Presgrove at 174.

“I love seeing guys fight through adversity and Blake and Tyler did just that,” Cowley coach Beau Vest said. “They stuck to their matches and wrestled hard.”

The Tigers have some time off before competing Dec. 7 at the Wayland Baptist Invitational in Plainview, Texas.

“We will try to use this time to get a couple of guys healthy,” Vest said. “The guys are progressing well and once we get everyone in the lineup it is going to be fun.”
