Sub-State Champions!

The Arkansas City High School football team poses with the KSHSAA Class 4A Sub-State trophy Friday night after knocking off No. 2-ranked McPherson in a 28-27 thriller at McPherson Stadium. The Bulldogs will take on St. James at 1 p.m. the day after Thanksgiving for the 4A State championship.

McPHERSON — The Arkansas City High School football team is headed to the KSHSAA Class 4A State championship!

Devon Watkins intercepted McPherson quarterback Dylan Rinker on the 4-yard line with 2.5 seconds remaining, clinching a wild and thrilling 28-27 victory Friday night against the Bullpups in the 4A Sub-State Semifinals at McPherson Stadium.

It was the second interception by the Bulldogs (6-6), who will take on St. James Academy next Friday at Gowans Stadium in Hutchinson. Cadon Clark snuffed out the Bullpups' previous drive with a pick.
