TOWANDA -- The Winfield High School boys and girls basketball teams were swept on the road Tuesday night in AV-CTL D-III play at Circle.

The Lady Vikings fell 49-39 to the Class 4A No. 8-ranked Circle girls.

The WHS boys lost 76-64.

Winfield got off to a slow start out of the bus, trailing 14-3 after the first quarter in the matinee. The Lady Vikings were down 31-17 at halftime.

Aleah Moree led the WHS girls with 15points, and Haley Gedrose added 8 points.

Unline the girls game, the WHS boys came out blazing in the nightcap, storming out with a 23-point first quarter. However, the Vikings went cold just as suddenly, managing a meager six points in the second period. That allowed the Thunderbirds to forge ahead 35-29 at halftime.

Aidan Harper scored 17 of his 24 points in Winfield's second-half comeback attempt. Jacob George added 14 points and Trent Beckwith finished with 13 points.
