BUHLER -- Haley Gedrose hit key free throws down the stretch Friday night, leading the Winfield High School girls basketball team to a 42-36 victory at Buhler.

The WHS boys lost 61-41

Gedrose connected on 7 of 11 from the foul line -- all in the second half -- in a 12-point effort. She was 6 of 10 from the line down the stretch.

The Lady Vikings led 23-15 at halftime.

Aleah Moree added seven points -- all on free throws (7 of 11) for the Lady Vikings, who were just 15 of 27 from the line, 7 of 14 in the fourth quarter.

Mallory Hanen led all scorers with 14 points for the Lady Crusaders, who finished 10 of 17 from the line.

The WHS boys got off to a slow start and trailed 31-14 at halftime.

Kyan Towles led the way with 11 points, Trent Beckwith added eight points and Aidan Harper chipped in seven for the Vikings, who went to the foul line just five times, sinking two.

Taiden Hawkinson led three players in double figures with 16 points for the Crusaders, who sank 9 of 10 from the line.
