ANDOVER -- The Arkansas City High School boys basketball team continued to use stellar defense and a team-first offense to defeat Andover Central 56-45 in AV-CTL D-II action Tuesday night.
The Lady Bulldogs fell 76-14.
The ACHS boys held the Jaguars to nine second-quarter points -- enough to take a 27-21 lead at halftime.
Three players scored in double figures for Ark City, led by 15 points from Brock Merz, who sank 8 of 8 from the foul line. Trevor Pierce added 13 points and Doug Stewart chipped in 12 for the Bulldogs, who connected on 21 of 26 from the line overall.
Skyler Clevenger led the Jaguars with 16 points.
The Lady Jaguars were relentless, draining 15 baskets from 3-point range -- seven in the second half after they enjoyed a 38-4 halftime lead.
Sophomore Macye McDonald scored five points off the bench to lead the Lady Bulldogs. Emma Badley's three points were the only scoring from the starting lineup.
