The Winfield High School boys basketball team had a solid chance to knock off a struggling McPherson team Friday night, but a two-point third quarter did in the Vikings in a 59-46 loss in AV-CTL D-III action in Ollie Thomas Gymnasium.

The Lady Vikings lost 69-21 to Class 4A No. 3-ranked McPherson.

The WHS boys held a 31-30 halftime lead, however, the Bullpups went on a 12-2 run to pull away.

Aidan Harper finished with 11 points and Kyan Towles added 10 for the Vikings.

Seth Madron led all scorers with 18 points for the Bullpups.

The Lady Vikings trailed 24-5 after the first quarter and 46-8 at halftime.

Ellie Koman scored nine points, all in the second half off the bench, to lead Winfield.

Grace Pyle had a game-high 24 points for McPherson.
