No injuries were reported in a motor home fire just before noon Friday on U.S. Highway 77, north of 33rd Avenue in south Winfield. According to Capt. Patrick Ramirez with the Winfield Fire Department, a mechanical failure caused the fire. The driver pulled over after smoke started coming out of the vehicle. The driver and two dogs were the only occupants and made it to safety. The fire department took about 15 minutes to put out the fire. The vehicle was later towed away. The Winfield Police Department and Cowley County Sheriff’s Office helped direct traffic.
