The Winfield Soroptimist Club business meeting was at noon Sept. 3 at the Winfield Area Chamber of Commerce office. There were 12 members present. President Cheryl Crow called the meeting to order, with Donna Thompson leading the flag salute.

Sign up sheets were passed around to work or provide cookies for the Tuesdays Table meal on Sept. 14 at the First Methodist Church, and for the Duck Jam on Sept. 9 at Island Park.

There was no speaker. The treasurer’s report was given and the minutes were approved as read.

Dee Ledy gave a report on all the projects that are happening or being discussed within the Projects and Community Service committee. Ruth gave some history during the education report.

The Yard of the Month was announced by Ruth Parman. It is at 1016 E. 10th and owners are Dao and Sonphet Bounvongsay.

Birthdays and anniversaries were acknowledged. Secret Sister thank yous were given.

SI’s fall meeting was announced for Oct. 15-17. All members were invited to attend.

Terri Lynn nuts and chocolate sales are going on the whole month of September. Those who are interested, contact a member.

The Thanksgiving committee will start planning the yearly Thanksgiving dinner for those who are alone or just want to join.

The next business meeting is at noon Sept. 17 at the Winfield American Legion if anyone would like to come see what the Soroptimists are all about.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:50 p.m.
